Well done

Thanks to all of you who have sent your work in - hopefully I have turned it around quickly enough for you to be able to carry on with it where necessary. I have been away for a lot of the time - working on a couple of different education based projects in Media Studies - and visiting my great kids - managed to see them all during the 'break'.
Here's to prove I went to Wellington.

email address for holiday work

Hey dudes and dudesses
Keep that work rolling in - shazzandrob@surf.co.nz is probably the best bet to email me, or sharonh@mmc.school.nz
Let me know what stage you are at and how near you are to completion with each set you send in. The sooner you send it, the sooner I can feed it back to you.

Montage theory

http://faculty.cua.edu/johnsong/hitchcock/pages/montage.html

Might be useful to print out and add to your notes. Take a look around other parts of this site as there are quite a few useful tips here.

Please email me your email address to shazzandrob@surf.co.nz, somehow I lost them last time I tried to add them in.
Thanks

readings for 3.2

This list will be added to and you are advised to make your own notes from them.
Two Cars, One Night - http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0169806/
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0390579/
http://www.bestvbest.com/index.php?film=two-cars-one-night (this is the one I read out to you in class and also has a connection to another website. Don't forget to illustrate your visual diary as this makes it easier to remember for later (visual clues).
If you think it might be helpful create your own blog just for Media studies as a way of keeping sites, pictures and notes you find useful. You will be amazed at how useful this can be later on when you are looking for something you forgot!!!

Work for Thursday 23 Feb

1) a - List the features of your chosen director's work
b) Write about which of these aspects you plan to include in your own short film

2) On scrap paper plan a stick figure, 10 sequence storyboard for your own short film
N.B: if you are stuck for ideas for this begin by basing it on song lyrics - your ideas should NOT be a literal interpretation of the lyrics, rather a REPRESENTATION of the ideas in the song.

Wicked TV video tips

http://www.tki.org.nz/r/wick_ed/wickedtv/index.php
Have a go at sending something in here!!! You can book cameras from Mr Richards at computer office and once you've paid your materials fees I'll go buy some tapes - you should each have a digital tape you use for the year.
Check out the short films - do a google search and see what other ones you can find; research your 'artist model' director.

Friday 10 feb

Work for today is to peruse this blog (which I naturally think is one of the world's best!) On the sidebar there are links to some useful sites and throughout the blog are readings that you need to print out and include in your collection of readings - as you read each one highlight points and summarise the main ideas. For a great place to revise shot types etc go to http://filmsite.org/filmterms2.html - this is the best reference I've come across so far for specific terminology stuff. Learn this lot and you're well on the way to being an awesome film buff - try testing each other on them. See you next week and be good to Mr Wallace.
